One of the most significant developments coming to Vermilion Parish is SpaceX’s planned Starbase Louisiana facility in Pecan Island. Announced in August 2026, the project represents a $100 billion investment and is expected to become SpaceX’s largest launch facility. Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the first launch targeted as soon as 2029. The project is expected to create approximately 3,000 direct jobs over the next 10 years, along with thousands of additional indirect jobs in Acadiana.
