Sunny Akers began as a passion project of owner and former French teacher, Kalyn Akers, where traditional French breads, pastries, and king cakes quickly gained a loyal following. As demand grew, the business expanded into a fully licensed commercial kitchen built in the backyard, allowing the bakery to serve even more customers.
In January 2026, Sunny Akers opened the doors to their first brick-and-mortar location in the small town of Maurice, just south of Lafayette. Today, Sunny Akers offers a wide selection of fresh artisan sourdough breads, cookies, and pastries in its bakery while also supplying local coffee shops and grocery stores throughout the area. Rooted in quality, community, and French tradition, Sunny Akers is proud to bring fresh, made-from-scratch baked goods to Vermilion Parish and beyond.
